Precipice: Disruption in Iadlain

While in Iadlain making demands on behalf of the Emperor, Imperial recruiters clash with a local alchemist. Rúadhnait, who lives on the same street as the Merilindes', became angry when they arrived at her shop, requested the free provision of several alchemic materials and attempted to conscript her younger brother, a healer, into the army. Her refusal to comply with any of their demands led to the soldiers' forceful entry of her shop, which in turn led to Rúadhnait forcefully throwing them out.

The other residents of Iadlain, who know Rúadhnait for being a fiery-tempered sorcerer with a penchant for lightning and weather magic, simply watch the unfolding spectacle with no desire to put themselves in harm's way to stop it.

Which prompts Cassair to actually act like a Count for once and intervene by moving the Imperial recruiters to an illusionary room. There, they will have tea, which may or may not be real, and talk nicely about their demands. Then he will send them back to Koben.

Whether this minor conflict will have repercussions remains to be seen. The small city of Iadlain feels safe in their isolation but the arm of the Empire is long and, with war on the horizon, nothing should be taken for granted.
