This, The City    Maybe these holes between my fingers are to blame? Really, look, when I hold my palm out flat, fingers pressed tightly side by side like a row of skin cells, there are little spaces in between them where they meet my hands. Tiny spaces through which colours and reality flash. Flaws. Money will leak out through these holes; there’s even a dried-up little river in my flesh to guide it upstream and over Heaven’s edge. It’s not that unreasonable to think maybe more than money escapes? Maybe those invisible black colours do too. Maybe that’s where they went.
